Marianne is a self-taught artist who strives to express in her paintings the mood, warmth and light of a scen as she sees it. Taking a moment in time, she captures and preserves its value and then passes it back to the viewer to enjoy. In a time when our daily lifestyles seem to become increasingly hectic and complex, marianne is able to create a painting that reminds us of the quality and pleasure that can be derived from simplicity.

Using the play of dark and light values with warm and cool colors, Marianne paints what she uniquely visualizes as an artist. Three pears reflecting on a table, the zest of a freshly peeled orange, sunlight cast across the red roof of the Monhegan Lighthouse, all bring life to her subject and draw you into her paintings. Through her brush strokes one can feel and share a special significance and value that often times goes unnoticed.

Marianne has lived in Camden and Rockport since 1970. She had a successful career starting and managing several local businesses, raising a family of three sons, leading an active role in community affairs and still finding time to express her artistic talents. In addition to her oil painting, she has worked in clothing design, architectural and interior design, sign carving, stained glass creations, water colors, and commercial graphic arts.

Marianne now devotes all her energies to her artistic side painting fulltime primarily in oils. she works in her home and studio on megunticook lake as well as on location during visits to Monhegan, coastal South Caroline, Tuscany, Mexico and Spain.
